General Outwild Faq’s
Who is the typical Outwild participant?
Outwild is made up of a diverse crowd! We welcome ALL humans and value diversity in outdoor skill level, age (our attendees range from 21-60+), race, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, religious beliefs, and political perspective.
Do I need to have any outdoor experience?
Nope! All skill levels are welcome at Outwild. Our outdoor add-ons are designed for people of all experience-levels as well, so have no fear if you’d like to try out something new!
What if I’d like to apply for a scholarship, but don’t want to miss out on the chance to purchase a ticket if I’m not accepted?
We are in the process of sourcing funding for our scholarships right now, and will likely be opening up applications later in the summer. We realize this may present an issue for folks who are hoping to get in on scholarship, but would like to pay to attend if not. Our best suggestion would be to pay for a ticket when they go on sale and apply for the scholarship later on in the summer. Should you be awarded the scholarship, we are happy to reimburse you!
You could also keep an eye on our ticket checkout site (which will show how many tickets are left). Depending on how quickly they are going you can decide if you'd like to wait until post-scholarship applications or not!
Can I volunteer for Outwild events?
We do not currently have any volunteer positions available.
Can I become part of the Outwild event staff?
If you’re interested in working at an Outwild event as a staff, you can fill out this form.
What is your refund policy?
We are happy to allow ticket transfers, but we do not provide ticket refunds. If you need to transfer your ticket please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO OUTWILD 2019
What do I do if tickets are no longer available?
If you’re interested in attending Outwild but there are no longer any tickets available, you can sign up for our waitlist through the ticket registration page here.
How do I get from the airport to the property?
Airport Shuttle - Price: $30 Roundtrip
You can purchase a seat in our shuttle van from Sacramento airport on Thursday evening and back to Sacramento airport on Sunday afternoon (limited spaces available). This shuttle van will depart from baggage claim on Thursday at 7 pm sharp and leave the event property at 1:30 pm on Sunday. Thursday/Sunday shuttle trips are not sold separately. If you purchase a shuttle ticket, please plan your flights accordingly so as not to leave other group members waiting.
Outside of the airport shuttle, we will not provide transportation to the event, however, we will have a Facebook group for attendees to help coordinate carpooling. During the event we will have limited transportation to and from off-site activities - we are looking for our Outwild community to come together for ride sharing for those without a vehicle as necessary.
Nearby Airports Include
The property is approximately one hour from the Sacramento International Airport and just over 2 hours from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It’s 2.5 hours from the Oakland International Airport and around 3 hours from the San Francisco International Airport. Be warned! Traffic can add to any of these commutes (particularly from the SF area).
What are the accommodation options for Outwild 2019?
We encourage Outwilders to purchase a bunk in the canvas tents onsite - these accommodations will help you meet fellow attendees, sleep well, and have an easy spot to crash / grab things throughout the day. Each bunk comes with a large pad so all you need is a sleeping bag (or sheets and a blanket) and you’re good to go! Each canvas tent will be shared with 3-5 bunkmates. There will also be an area to set up your own tent if you prefer to do so. For those of you interested in staying at the property on Sunday after Outwild 2019, our hosts at EarthTrek have graciously opened their doors for an extra night. You may select Sunday night lodging options at checkout ($35 for canvas tents, $20 for camping).
The majority of our tents will be gender neutral, however, we will have a few gender specific tents for those of you who are interested in this option (if so, please indicate accordingly in your post-checkout survey form).
Is there parking at the event site?
Yep! We’ve got a fairly big lot, so no worries if you’re driving yourself and/or renting a car.
